CopCAST - Episode 153 - Don't Stop Flashing

This week the digital command center came under attack by mother nature. Although Salem, Virginia is normally 70 degrees and sunny with beautiful bikini clad women everywhere, we suffered a freak snow storm that was intended for Northern Virginia. That's right - we had 15 inches (38 cm) of snow in 24 hours. But fear not - the show must go on!

This week the Two Girls From Utah tell us what they think about the Supreme Court and the foxes in England. And, as usual, we just never know what they have on their minds.

The statistics on gun deaths of cops don't look too good this year. For our keynote story all I can say is don't listen to that girl from New Zealand. A Washington D.C. cop helps out with a robbery that goes bad. Catch me if you can. Why did he pick that car to hijack. Talk about bad luck! A mother/blogger posts updates about her son's death on Twitter. He went to a Halloween party as a cop. Unfortunately, he is a cop and that was his real uniform. The top 10 best places to get a cop job - check them out at http://tinyurl.com/ycdmksz. A drunken cowgirl. Those video clips were the only occasions in which he had an unnatural connection with the dog. That makes me feel better.

This week we have another installment of the Tales From George's Pocketbook, our audio segment from our brother officers Great Britain. There are times when no amount of planning can cover absolutely every outcome, although it has to be said that some of those occasions are where fantasy intrudes on real life. Who can possibly be expected to predict when they will be stopped in their tracks by parodies of themselves? Confused? Then settle back and give old George a listen.

Over the past few weeks, we have been reviewing a recent article on PoliceOne.com by Columnist Ken Wallentine. The article discusses his assessment of the top 12 cases of the 2008-2009 term of the United States Supreme Court that impact street officers. This week I'm going to review the sixth case that Chief Wallentine wrote about, Melendez-Diaz v. Massachusetts.

So download this week's show, fire up the iPod and relax. I will be busy shoveling my driveway until spring arrives. Remember to stay safe, always wear your vest and have a Merry Christmas and a great week!

CopCAST - Episode 152 - Bad Breath Bandit

What a week! Santa has the elves cranked up working 12 hour shifts and things are getting a little tense for the North Pole PD. Rudolph looks like a drunk with that red nose. Its a good thing he isn't driving.

The Two Girls From Utah stopped in give us their picks from last week's show including the Detroit execution of a boy by his father and our go-to favorite - the Taser. There is never a dull moment with those two.

Then we move on to the briefing room with the help of my co-host Michael. A Christmas tree, a drunken man and the cops. How lovely! Our keynote story the Bad Breath Bandit. Shooting your own penis off has got to leave a mark. Food fight! Will the Supreme Court say "No - Don't - Stop! or "No, Don't stop." Foxy brake job. Tomato sandwich, please. Have gun, will travel. So that was where I left that body! You are better off you shoot someone than to shoot a movie.

We also have another installment of the Tales From George's Pocketbook, our audio segment from our brother officers Great Britain. It's never good to get too cocky, especially when you don't know when it's going to come back and bite you. In this job that can sometimes mean literally 'come back and bite you'. There's only one more question to be asked, why didn't they use 'Who Let The Dogs Out' as the backing track for this one?

If you have questions or need additional resources about Ready Virginia campaigns, write or call Laura Southard at the Virginia Department of Emergency Management: laura.southard@vdem.virginia.gov or (804)897-6510 or http://www.ReadyVirginia.gov.

We want to thank our legion of listeners for taking their time to listen to CopCAST. Be sure to let your friends and fellow officers know about the show. Just download the show, hook your iPod to your surround sound system, buy a case of beer and invite your friends over to share the love. Remember to stay safe, always wear your vest and have a great week!

Jason, I have known you for a short time but, I think you are doing a great job in your department. Remember, YOU and your department will always receive statements like what's in your paper. Usually in a small department you get a lot from the city board members. However, as long as you do your job per city, county and state law, that's what counts. Great knowing you. Bob G.

Hi Jason,

I'm Jack's widow. I've been visiting here compliments of Penny. I loved the ice skating video. You are working with a great group of people.

I still need to get a concealled carry permit. Do I sign up ahead or just show up? Weather is a factor for me.

Have a wonderful Christmas.

Hey Chief, You wouldn't happen to have any dogs in the pound at this time would you? Our Puppy ran away the other day and we still haven't found him.
